4Mality

4Mality is an Intelligent Tutoring System for 3rd and 4th grade students preparing to take the 4th Grade Math Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test.

4Mality has several characteristics that make it a powerful resource for children, teachers, and families:

  • It teaches not only subject matter content but also problem solving skills
  • It features four coaches (Estella Explainer, Chef Math Bear, How-to Hound, and Visual Vera) who give language, computation, strategy, and visual hints for solving problems
  • It adapts to the level of knowledge and learning style of every student by using an Artificial Intelligence decision system
  • It is designed with standarized testing in mind, so that every practice question follows the MCAS style
  • It familiarizes the students to high stakes testing by providing continuous feedback in terms of testing scores
